Sao Paulo new launch date

We continue to monitor the ongoing Covid-19 situation very carefully and changing demand for travel. As a result, we have decided to make additional changes to our flying programme as part of measures being taken to ensure that the airline is in a robust position for the months ahead.

Virgin Atlantic’s new London Heathrow - São Paulo service, due to commence on 29 March 2020, has been deferred, with services now beginning from 5 October 2020. This change is part of wider measures being taken including the suspension of our Heathrow – Shanghai route, and reduced frequency between Heathrow – Hong Kong. We are committed and excited to launch our first route to Brazil and South America in October.

Bookings affected by this change will be updated and can be viewed in your GDS on Sunday 8 March 2020.

We are offering customers on VS tickets issued by 5 March 2020

  1. Rebooking Policy:
  • Rebook travel in the same booking class, or; if original booking class isn’t available, re-book in the lowest available class in the same cabin. No additional collection or change fee will be charged
  • Re-booking with onward connections on codeshare partner airlines, rebook travel in the same booking class, or, if original booking class isn’t available on the connection, re-book in the lowest available class in the same cabin. No additional collection or change fee will be charged.
  • Except, If the customers wish to remain on G3 connection flights, VS* must be cancelled and re-booked onto a G3 flight number.
  • All other points of sale – No change fee will be charged but subject to fare difference.
  • Brazil point of sale - No additional collection or change fee will be charged

  • Re-booking with onward connections on other non-codeshare partner airlines, rebook travel in the same booking class, or, if original booking class isn’t available on the connection, re-book in the lowest available class in the same cabin.

  • All other points of sale – No change fee will be charged but subject to fare difference.
  • Brazil point of sale - No additional collection or change fee will be charged

Tickets must be re-issued on / before revised travel date

  • Update the SI field with the following information:

SI FOC DATE CHANGE DUE TO SAO PAULO DEFER DATE

  • Please reissue tickets to include “FOC DATE CHANGE DUE TO SAO PAULO DEFER DATE”

  1. Reroute for travel
  • Re-protections onto AF via CDG & KL via AMS.
  • Book from GDS availability in the same booking class, or, if original booking class is not available, re-book in the lowest available class in the same cabin. No additional collection or change fee will be charged.

  • Update the SI field with the following information:

  1. I REROUTE CHANGE DUE TO SAO PAULO DEFER DATE

  • Please reissue tickets to include “REROUTE DUE TO SAO PAULO DEFER DATE”.

Refund Policy 

  • All refunds will be credited to the original form of payment.
